Bella had been losing weight, and not eating much for days at a time. We took her to vets several times. They would give something — a new food, or probiotics, or a steroid shot — and she would eat for a few days or a week. Most recently, at Firehouse Belterra, we took a chance on a thyroid test. It showed hyperthyroidism. We have been able to get medicine into her since November 25, and she’s still eating!
Editor’s note: Bella is one of my favorites. She likes attention, but can be a challenging. Not a cat for people who take offense easily. She doesn’t like other cats, either.
Purrsilla is recoverying from histoplasmosis, an internal fungal infection, from when she was homeless. The last re-check of her level of infection was in September. She had improved, and had spay surgery soon after. We continue to give her antifungal medication twice daily, in food. An ideal foster home would provide a space away from other cats. Learn about Purrsilla, and how you can help.
Thanks to Lake Austin Blvd Animal Hospital for diagnostic care and medication, and to Dripping Springs Animal Hospital, where Purrsilla was spayed.
