Caring for our Caregivers

Please help our beloved friend Dee Arrington as she recuperates from her stroke - on July 18, 2013. It has affected the right side of her body and her speech. Dee has no medical insurance, and her Social Security and Medicaid don't go far enough.

Any amount of help is very much appreciated. To make a one-time donation, use the PayPal "Donate" button below:

In the mission statement of Central Texas Animal Sanctuary, dba Thundering Paws Animal Sanctuary, is a statement that we offer care for animals who are homeless, neglected, injured or abused. Can we do less for the caregivers of those animals?

The Caring for our Caregivers Project is an extension of the mission of Thundering Paws. Our work could not be done without the aid of dedicated people whose life work is caring for animals. The aim of this project is to provide sustenance to dedicated caregivers of our community when they are in medical and financial crisis to enable their speedy return to their life's mission of caring for animals. When the funds are exhausted for a particular crisis event or person the remaining funds will be held in escrow until needed for another caregiver in crisis.

Dee Arrington, our first employee (except the director of Thundering Paws!), was with us from our inception in July 2001 to the day of her stroke. This sanctuary could not have functioned without her loving aid. Dee's recovery will take years.

Because Caring for Our Caregivers (CFOC) is a program of Central Texas Animal Sanctuary (CTAS), your contributions to this effort are tax deductible. CTAS will take a fee of 1% to offset any administrative costs. The rest will be used for Dee's care and recovery or, once she is back on her feet, for the care of another caregiver in crisis. Should CTAS dissolve without another caregiver crisis, these funds will be donated, as will all of our funds at that time, to another 501 (C)(3) organization that cares for animals, and who value their caregivers.
